TERMS OF SERVICE
The following terms and conditions (these "Terms of Service"), govern your access to and use of the Guitar Practice website, including any content, functionality and services offered on or through (the "Site"), by Guitar Practice and its agents.
Lesson fees are £25 per 60 minutes or £20 per 45 minutes for one-to-one lessons, and £20 per 60 minutes or £15 per 45 minutes for online lessons. Lesson fees may be subject to change in line with rises in cost of living, however a 30-day notice period will be given should this be necessary. Discounts are available for advanced payment of lessons in blocks of 4 lessons as outline on the Site, and must be paid in full in advanced in order to be applied. All lesson fees, including advanced payments, are non-negotiable and non-refundable after payment.
1.1 Lesson Fees
1.2 Lesson Payment
Payment for one-to-one lessons can be made during the first lesson in cash, or prior to the lesson via bank transfer or PayPal. Cheques are not accepted. Payments for online lessons must be made 48 hours in advance of the first lesson via bank transfer or PayPal. All subsequent lessons must then be paid for in advance. Cash payments for subsequent one-to-one lessons must be paid one week in advance starting from the second lesson. Electronic payments for both one-to-one and online lessons must continue to be paid for 48 hours in advance. No subsequent lesson will be confirmed without advance payment being made.
All lesson payments are final and non-refundable. In the event of a cancellation request, any and all lessons will be rescheduled, not refunded. Rescheduled lessons will be postponed to the following week at the student’s usual allotted time. Any request to cancel/reschedule must be given at least 24 hours in advance. If a cancellation/rescheduling request is given less than 24 hours before the lesson, then the advanced payment of that lesson will be forfeit. The student will then be required to pay in advance for the following lesson if it is rescheduled. This is a necessary policy in order to safeguard Guitar Practice and it's tutors from regular last minute cancellations. As self-employed individuals, last minute cancellations have a major impact on tutors' time, and therefore their personal income. With less than 24 hours notice, it is not possible to allocate that time to another student or any other work, which results in a loss of income. The advanced lesson payment acts as security against such loss. In the interest of fairness and good faith, Guitar Practice upholds it's tutors to the same policy in that should they fail to provide more than 24 hours notice for a cancellation/rescheduling notification, then the next lesson will be free of charge. Concessions to this policy will be considered in the event of circumstances that are reasonably out of either party's control, including, but not limited to, circumstances such as, accident or injury, family emergency etc; to be determined on a case-by-case basis.
1.3 Lesson Cancellation
1.4 Termination of Services
Both tutors and students retain the right to terminate guitar tuition services at their own discretion, for reasons including, but not limited to, misconduct, failure to make payments, dissatisfaction, or changes in personal circumstances. Where either party wishes to terminate the services, notification may be given in person, or electronically via telephone, text message, or email. Any lessons that have been paid for in advance, and have still yet to be given, will be carried out in the usual manner, after which the service will terminate. In the event that all advance paid lessons have been given, then the termination of services will be effective immediately.
1.5 Child Safety
Guitar Practice ensures that all tutor's listed on the Site have been vetted and undergone back ground checks via the United Kingdom's Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS - formerly CRB) in order to provide reassurance to parents looking for tuition for children under 18.
GUITAR RECORDING & SESSIONS WORK
2.1 Recording & Session Work Fees
The fees listed on the Site for recording and session musician services provide an approximate guide to how much a project might cost, and therefore should not be used ascertain a definitive final sum. As each project is different a full quote will be given on the expected cost before any work is undertaken. This will be based on prior discussions on what the project involves taking into account factors that include, but are not limited to, location, number of songs, length of songs, number of guitar parts, desired sound/tone/effects, style of music, difficulty of music, assistance in composition/production, and delivery format of work. Musicians hired through the Site retain the right to alter or amend any and all fees should the amount of work exceed that of the original quote, but will give advanced notice of this, where possible, if it is deemed likely.
On-site recording and session work is classed as work that is conducted away from the Guitar Practice studio in locations such as the client’s studio, a third party studio or portable studio, as well in a live performance environment. In these circumstances a flat rate of £25 per hour is charged, and includes a contribution of ideas and suggestions in terms of the writing and production. If a reasonably larger amount of writing and production work is required then this rate is subject to change, all applicable royalties and writing credits should be given. Travel expenses are expected for any distance over 20 miles, but wavered for any distance less than 20 miles where the booking is for 6 hours or more. For bookings of less than 6 hours within a 20-mile radius, reasonable travel expenses can be negotiated based on distance and travel time. Travel expenses are not expected for bookings within the Leeds area. Any bookings made with less than 24 hours notice will be classed as urgent and a 20% surcharge will be applied to the hourly rate. All of this will be detailed in the quote provided before the session. On occasions where the full amount of time booked is not required, the full amount for the allocated time remains payable.
2.2 On Site Guitar Recording & Session Work
2.3 Remote Guitar Recording & Session Work
Remote recording and session work is classed as work that is conducted at the Guitar Practice studio where the recording and engineering process is included in the service. The rate for this service is worked out based on the quantity of work that is needed instead of an hourly rate in order to eliminate any uncertainties in the number of hours worked, as both parties are not able to accurately monitor work time. The rate for remote recording and session work begins at £8 per guitar part based on an average song length of 3 minutes 30 seconds that is of a reasonable complexity in terms of tempo, time signature, rhythmic and harmony. The longer and more complex the song, and therefore the more it time it requires, the higher the rate per part will need to be. If the client requests both DI recordings and the recorded amp tone, the rate per part increases to £12. This rate is also subject to change depending the number, length, and complexity of the parts.
A maximum of 2 revisions on the first delivery will be given. Any further revisions requested will be considered additional work and charged separately.
2.4 On-Site Recording & Session Work Payment
Payment for recording and session work not carried out at the Guitar Practice studio should be made after the final booked hour, either in cash, via PayPal or by bank transfer. Cheques are not accepted. For multiple or consecutive sessions up to a maximum of 5 days, payment can be made once all the work has been completed. For on-going work exceeding 5 days, an upfront payment of the first 3 days will be required before any work is carried out.
Payment for recording and session work conducted at the Guitar Practice studio will be split into two instalments. The first will be an upfront payment for half of the quoted amount, to be made at least 24 hours before any work is conducted. The second payment will be for the remaining half, plus fees for any additional work carried, to be made within 7 days of all work being completed. Payments are to be made via PayPal or bank transfer.
2.5 Remote Recording & Session Work Payment
2.6 Guitar Recording & Session Work Cancellation
All sales and bookings are final. Refunds for completed work will not be given. Cancellations for on-site bookings with less than 24 hours notice will be subject to a charge equal to the amount of the next day’s work as compensation for lost time. Cancellation for remote bookings with less than 24 hours notice will render any advanced payments forfeit, as compensation for lost work. However, the client will retain the option for 14 days from the date of cancellation to request the work to be completed up to the amount covered by the advance payment.
